Fortunately, there are effective strategies that can help foster motivation and turn school into an exciting and rewarding place. In this article, and taking advantage of the return to school , we will explore different techniques and approaches to increase the motivation of children with autism , and thus create a stimulating and enriching school environment.

Set goals and rewards:

Help your child set realistic and meaningful goals, whether it's completing a specific task, achieving an academic achievement, or socializing with a new friend. By recognizing and celebrating achievements, you can provide additional motivation to actively participate in school activities.

Create a positive environment :

Foster a positive and supportive school environment, where respect, inclusion and acceptance are promoted. Children with autism will feel motivated when they feel valued and supported by their peers and teachers.

Use personal interest :

Discover your child's interests and passions and look for ways to incorporate them into the school context. This may include themed projects related to their favorite topics, extracurricular activities that pique their interest, or the opportunity to explore specific areas of study that appeal to them.

Encourage active participation:

Provide opportunities for your child to actively participate in the learning process. This may include hands-on activities, collaborative projects, or leadership roles within the classroom. When they feel involved and empowered, they will be more motivated to attend classes and participate fully in school activities.

Establish clear routines:

Predictable, structured routines can help children with autism feel safe and comfortable in the school environment. Setting clear schedules, providing visual reminders, and anticipating changes in routine can reduce anxiety and increase motivation to go to school.

By implementing these strategies to increase school motivation in children with autism, we will be paving the way to an exciting journey of discovery and learning. Every day at school is an opportunity for our children to grow, connect and develop in an inclusive and nurturing environment.
