When a difficulty is the greatest learning!

Not everything is easy in the Method but everything is learning and evolution.
I would like us to stop and think about frequent situations in the Method and that they are the greatest learning that we can offer our children with communication problems.
I'll go with an example: there are situations such as sensory difficulties with play dough , my child can't stand play dough, he can't even smell it, he can't touch it, he can't see it ... and the Play Dough video comes... But suddenly through the plasticine video, start working on that tolerance, that adaptation to that specific material. I assure you that at that moment not only does a process of acceptance begin, but it ends up playing with the plasticine. That will happen to us with sounds, materials and objects.
We also find situations like: " my child is afraid of animals or a specific animal ", and as you can imagine, there are videos of animals in the VICON Method. What do they get? At first it may terrify us and we want to play that video as soon as possible, but don't do it because it represents a block in your child. Wanting to protect them and prevent stressful situations is natural, but through the videos and your help, we get them to learn and overcome these obstacles.
We also find more cases, for example in the manipulation of objects , with the video for example of the car... they manage to roll a car. Only people who are close to a child with autism can know what it means for them to develop symbolic play and appropriate manipulation with objects. Well, the method exposes, generates and integrates those types of games, those tolerances and frees them from those blockages and phobias. Through our videos we break with those dynamics that are sometimes sustained for years.
And we always tell our families when they attack a complex video, that sometimes it seems impossible because it generates a reaction and an overreaction in their children, such as fear, escape, stress.
You have to take advantage of those moments as an opportunity . Without a doubt it is the most important achievement that they will achieve.
Of course it is important to incorporate new words into our vocabulary, say them a little better, learn new objects, new actions. But it is much more important to be able to deal with moments of discomfort, fear, denial and frustration . Because life is going to bring you many moments of that type and to be able to work on them in a more contained framework, with a visual method we can achieve real communication , the kind that fills our mouths when we say it. And to be able to develop it at the moment when it is most important.
Do not try to avoid those moments and take them as an opportunity to work on those emotions, those sensations and those situations . In this way, you will have tools to face new ones that will come, that life will naturally bring to you. Things they don't like, things they don't want at some point, or things they want and we can't give them now.
For us it is true learning, it is true development and it is where we give your children their greatest potential and their best tools for the future.
